FOUR CHAIRS

Bachelor of Design Majoring in Textiles (Honours) – Spatial Design Special Project

Massey University
Wellington, New Zealand

Client – Wellington Sustainability Trust

Four Chairs is a furniture collection using waste stream products for The Sustainability Trust. Being multi-purpose it can be used both inside and out. Four old school chairs have been developed into two chairs, a lamp and a table. The Woven structure is made of inner cable wire of old electrical e-waste that has been plaited and then stitched onto the reconstructed furniture frames. Each element of the collection is able to nest together adding a compact storage component. Old pallet wood is used to link each furniture piece within the collection together. The lamp was designed to be atmospheric and visually enhance the woven aspect of the collection.

Collaborative Project- Hannah McKay, Tori Gibbs, Laura Murray, Natalie Colville and Anna Hunt
